Evening everyone! If you're in the DC area, hope you're careful on the roads tonight as we're due to get 3-4 inches of the white stuff tonight. I've got some news to share and some speculating to do, so be sure to join me after the jump!
The good news I have to share with you tonight is that Tony Wroblicky, AU's 6'9" center coming in next year is currently averaging 10 pts, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks a game. Not too shabby. Hopefully he comes in and is able to provide ~5 good minutes a game in relief of Riley/Lumpkins. We'll see. Here are the stats!
Now onto the speculation. KenPom's info on us for the rest of the season is here, and Realtime RPI's info on us is here. KenPom projects us to go 7-7 in the league, and RTR has us at 6-8, but both have 4/7 games being within 3 points. It should be pretty close. I think we have a pretty good chance of going 9-5 in the league IF we can beat Lehigh this weekend. That'll show that we can go toe-to-toe with anyone in the league, especially at home. Things are a lot different now than they were just a short time ago when Lehigh, Bucknell, and Army made us look very foolish. If I had to guess I'd say we're going to go 5-2 the rest of the way with losses coming at Navy and at Colgate.
That would mean we'd finish at 9-5 in the league, which would definitely be good enough for a top 4 finish. If we play the way we've played the past 3 games, I think we can beat anyone in the league (and we'd be well on our way to Dayton for the play-in game) but we'll see if we can keep up this level of play. The Lehigh game is a huge, huge test, which is why I hope that as many students as possible will get out. We need a Phil Bender sized crowd for this game.
What are your thoughts? Agree or disagree with KenPom or RTR? Let me know why! Leave ideas for this week's poll question in the comments as well.
Be careful out there on the roads.
Pro deo et patria and GO EAGLES!
It's impossible to figure out to what extent AU will improve (or not) in the upcoming weeks. The Patriot League is no mountain to climb, so good improvement should see us through to winning most of our games.
