The Most Patriotic of the Patriot League - America Can't Lose, But West Point Sure Can

"In Clawed We Trust"

Today marks a most epic battle - on the hardwood, of course - between most likely the two most Patriotic college basketball teams in the United States. The West Point Black Knights face off against the American University Eagles at Army's Christl Arena tonight at 7 PM Eastern Time. If it isn't blindingly apparent that this is AMERICA'S basketball game, then I encourage you to immediately emigrate to Canada. For our international readers (including Canadians), this basketball game should encompass everything you need to know about American culture. More after the jump...

So I'll keep this short again, but fear not, we've got a lengthy preview coming up for PHIL BENDER this weekend! Here's some highlights to look out for today:

- Although Army had the best non-conference schedule in the Patriot League, they also had one of the weakest strengths of schedule
- Cleveland Richard continues to be a beast for Army (he was instrumental in almost knocking us off last year in the PL semifinals), while sophomore G Julian Simmons makes threes like no one's business
- Army lost on the road to Colgate and got eaten alive at home by Lehigh, although they did score a nice win against Holy Cross on the road, giving us identical conference records of 1-2. Other than the joy I take in Holy Cross losing, I'd say we have a decent shot at offing the Black Knights on their home court
- While we don't necessarily need another career game from Luptak (but it would be nice), we do need everyone to step up like they did against Colgate. The Black Knights are the best they've been in years, and we can't underestimate them
- Make sure to see Bill's post below, he did some excellent analysis already

So while I think I just broke the record for shortest preview yet on this blog, fear not, for I may just break the opposite record this weekend. Make sure to join us tonight right here on AUHOOPS.com at 7 PM for the liveblog!

In Clawed We Trust,
Josh
