BREAKING: Vanderbilt's Charles Hinkle to transfer to AU

Good evening, AU Hoops fans. Exciting news to report, Vanderbilt's 6'5" 210lb. guard Charles Hinkle will reportedly transfer to AU and be eligible in the second semester of next season. This news has not yet been reported by AU Athletics officials, but other reports we have received confirm it. Hinkle's story reads much like Vlad Moldoveanu's, a player with a lot of talent who was not getting the minutes at his initial institution. Hinkle will contribute to the large number of guards that the team already fields (Hendra, McCormack, Luptak, Munoz, Jolivette, Hill, Borucki, Brewer, and, arguably, Bersch), but at 6'5", he may be able to play small forward in the Patriot League.

Details as we get them as this is an emerging story.

Pro deo et patria and GO EAGLES!

  1. Assuming this goes down, AU will truly be a force to be reckoned with in PL play next year. With Hinkle, Vlad, Nick, Lump, and hopefully improved play from Danny and Blake, we may see a team capable of not only making the NCAA Tourney, but actually pulling off the upset and winning a game.

  3. Very, very exciting. Hinkle has a reputation as a defensive stopper. Not sure if he'd get a starting nod or not; haven't seen much about his shooting touch or other skills, just that on defense he's incredibly tenacious and can cover a bunch of positions. '10-'11 is going to be one hell of a year for AU basketball. JJ will have more talent than he knows what to do with.

  4. Tom, don't forget Troy Brewer (transfer from UGA) will be eligible next season as well! Plus we supposedly have one of the top high school Centers (Tony Wroblicky) coming in as a freshman to boot.

2010-2011 should be a dominant year for AU Hoops, and this blog will be there to record every minute of it. Now, back to 09-10!
