School: Lehigh University
Last year's record: 22-11 (10-4). Lost to No 1 Kansas in NCAA Tournament 90-74.
Last year's record against AU: 3-0. Lehigh knocked off AU 78-67 in the team's first meeting, then came to Bender and won 77-65, and crushed AU in the Patriot League Semifinals 79-57.
Key Losses - Zahir Carrington started 30 games for Lehigh last year and put up 11 points per game and pulled down 6.7 boards (fourth best in the conference). His 42 blocks were third in the Patriot League (behind Mike Muscala of Bucknell and Lumpkins). He registered the third most double-doubles of all Patriot League players. Also moving on is Marquis Hall, who started all 33 games for the Hawks a year ago. He recorded a career-high 12 assists against Holy Cross and is top 20 in a few other offensive categories. He gave Lehigh 11.0 points per game and 5.7 dimes per game. It's tough to gage just how crushing these losses will be (although my bet is Carrington's will sting for a while) since Sophomore CJ McCollum will be back to draw attention from defenses.
Key Additions - Just three freshmen this year, and no transfers. Lehigh is looking to keep the core group of McCollum and Knutson, but with seniors Michael Ojo and Rob Keefer likely looking at starting spots, the team is no group of kids.
Non-conference - We'll get back to you on this!
Outlook against the Eagles - AU has improved enough to expect a split with Lehigh this year, and I look for both games to be close with the home team winning each matchup.
I think you may have last year's schedule. Lehigh opens on the road at Penn St this year and Richmond does not appear on the schedule.
ReplyDeleteTook it down for now. We'll look into it. Thanks and sorry for the mix-up!
