Wait, Josh, so to do a preview I just tell them what I think will happen?

I tell you, these blog titles just keep getting cleverer and clevererer. Anyway, stepping into unfamiliar territory as I do a preview here. Josh has been doing these (as you no doubt know since you're an avid reader). So normally there's a clever graphic or something, but I'm not good at that. So instead, here's an image of the movie poster for the 1993 film Cliffhanger starring Sylvester Stallone (courtesy of fotos.org).

Why a movie poster of Cliffhanger? Join us after the jump to find out!

Welcome back! Anyway. It's because Mt. St. Mary's, tonight's opponent, are the Mountaineers! Cliffhanger, Mountaineers, get it? No? Not funny? Whatever, it's Wednesday, get over it.

Anyway. The long and the short of it is this, I think this is going to be a tough game. We lost to the Mount LAST year, 57-52, in Bender. I don't know if you've heard this or not, but apparently AU lost 7 seniors, including all 5 star-, oh, wait, you heard this. Well, you also may remember from my season preview, way back when, that Mt. St. Mary's is returning its top four scorers from last year's team. They've only played one game so far this season, a loss to powerhouse Oklahoma, 95-71. I imagine they're going to come into Bender hungry for a win and suspecting they'll get it.

Here's the keys to the game for our Eagles:

- Avoid the second half slump! JJ needs to consider sitting Riley and Lumpkins if at all possible in the first half to save them a bit for the second half, even if it means we get behind a little bit.
- 3 point shooting! If the perimeter shooting woes continue, AU is going to have a hard time keeping opposing defenses from collapsing on our frontcourt.
- Taking care of the ball! Against an experienced team like Mt. St. Mary's, turnovers will absolutely gift wrap the game and send the Eagles to an 0-3 season start.

The game is at 7:30PM tonight in Bender Arena!

BE THERE! BE BLUE! BE AU!

Pro deo et patria and GO EAGLES!

  1. Riley Grafft is the most conditioned player on the team (due to the length of his legs and just hes overall in good shape)...sitting him to save him is useless
