Let's Talk Turkey: SPECULATION TUESDAY

Get it? Talk turkey? Thanksgiving is coming up? Oh God I need some more material. In any event, here we are, everyone, 0-5. Fear, not, however! There is an end in sight to this losing streak. Without too much introductory nonsense (you don't really come here for that, do you?) Here are my items for Speculation Tuesday:

- When will the losing streak end? I don't think it's going to happen against Manhattan tomorrow night. Manhattan just beat FAU by 7. FAU beat us by 12. Sound good to you? Doesn't sound good to me.

- However, I do think we have a very good chance to beat Maryland-Eastern Shore this Saturday. They're a young team that is also struggling (0-5). It'll be a grudge match for sure because both teams will probably both be looking for their first win and painfully aware that this is the caliber of opponent that they can get it against.

- How would this team look different if Vlad the Impaler had been eligible at the beginning of the season? I think we'd be 3-2. I think we would've converted the St. Francis, Mt. St. Mary's, and Albany games. I'm going to guess that Vlad is going to come in and average 10-14 pts., 5-6 rebounds, 3-4 assists a game but he's also going to be a real threat on the outside which will make Lumpkins an even bigger threat than he is now.

- Why haven't we seen anything from Daniel Fisher the past few games? Unless there's an injury that the team isn't divulging, I think it's got to be that Jeff Jones thought he wasn't quite ready. I can't say I fully disagree. Bersch has been playing well enough to give Riley a rest, and Fisher looked a little uncertain in the paint in the games we saw him in.

- I had someone ask me this morning if it's possible the team will go the entire season without a win. I would put the odds of that at about 32,000:1. Not going to happen. I don't think that we'll have a very pretty record at the end of the season (it may end up being even worse than Bucknell's 12-19 record last year, to be honest). I think Vlad will help matters a lot, but the brutal non-conference schedule is really going to bruise us up. I think we'd be doing really well to finish 8-6 in conference play, which last year would've given us a first round home game. In reality it could go anywhere from 5-9 to 8-6 depending on how well we convert the close conference games.

That's all I've got for you today. We'll see you tomorrow for the Manhattan game, 7:30pm in Bender! Should be quite a crowd (/facetious)! We'll update you on programming notes tomorrow night with the recap entry.

Pro deo et patria and GO EAGLES!
