Soooo here we are again, Monday night, ready to get a fresh dose of PL Check-in. Not a lot of games played this past week, none for our beloved AU Eagles, so we'll get right down to it and see what our PL breth...blood enemies did in the past seven days.
Army
7-2 overall, 1-0 last week
Win: @Dartmouth (2-6) 59-48
Army remains the cream of the Patriot League. Their football team isn't making a bowl game this year, however. Does that matter? No, I guess not. Is it particularly insulting? It would be, but I don't really have a leg to stand on here, or a college football team to root for.
Lafayette
6-5 overall, 2-0 last week
Wins: Fairleigh Dickinson (1-10) 73-57, Long Island (4-5) 77-63
With a productive last seven days, Lafayette joins Army in the over .500 category. If only every game was against Fairleigh Dickinson.
Bucknell
4-6, no games last week
The Bison remain static this week. Maybe a week's worth of study will sharpen them. Or maybe it will make them more buffalo...esque? Can we all agree that when Bucknell comes to Bender we will all agree to chant SHA-ZAM when Darryl Shazier comes on the court?
Lehigh
3-5, no games last week
Like its friends the Bison, the Hill Pigeons from Lehigh didn't do anything this week. The same way they're not going to do anything in the Patriot League this season. Ooooooh burn. I got nothin', let's be serious Lehigh isn't going to be bad like this forever. Maybe Zahir Carrington will be though, and that would delight me.
Navy
4-7, 0-2 last week
Losses: @Maryland Eastern Shore (3-5) 80-72, @Wofford (5-6) 73-62
Ohohohohohoho, the Midshipmen lost to Maryland Eastern Shore. What SUCKERS! No one loses to UMES. Wait? What's that you say? Oh, we lost to UMES? Oh. Right. Maybe Chris Harris will defect from the Naval Academy and come be an Eagle. We can dress him up like Garrison Carr and start a little dream team. No that's probably not going to work either.
Holy Cross
2-8, 0-1 last week
Loss: @Fairfield (8-2) 73-54
Please explain to me how this Holy Cross team is so bad. I don't get it. Meister, Keister, R.J. Evans. A good team last year. Sean Kearney's system must be really hard to learn or the chemistry must be particularly awful. They just got beat to Fairfield as badly as we did. Are we as good a team as Holy Cross? Really? Thank God for small wonders. Get it? God? Holy Cross? Ha.
Colgate
0-9, 0-1 last week
Loss: Stony Brook (7-2) 66-55
Seriously, let's recruit Kyle Roemer and Chris Harris in. We'll go to at least the 2nd round of the PL tourney. It's sad that Roemer has braved so many injuries in his career just to be on a miserably poor Colgate team.
Well, that's that. Should be more action to report on next week. And you know the saying, the more action, the more...good blog posts?
Pro deo et patria and GO EAGLES!
i gotta say, this is your most innane and worthless blog post ever. I appreciate the effort though, nice to have something to read.
ReplyDeleteAs they say, you can't have insanity without...inanity? Someone please tell me I did not just make that up.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be back tomorrow with all of our usual zest and chutzpah. Hold on to your seats.
"Innane [sic] and worthless"? Geez, can't a guy eat a meatball sub while watching Law & Order: SVU and write up an entry about a week where almost nothing of note happened in a weak Division 1 college basketball league without getting his feelings stomped on? Shucks.
ReplyDeleteKidding. There just wasn't a lot to go on this week, I'll give you all the vim and vigor you can handle next week. BANK ON IT.
