Update on Josh Snodgrass's Transfer

Since so many of you have asked about this, here's your update.

Nancy Yasharoff, Associate Athletics Director for Communications, said that Josh Snodgrass has contacted the basketball department and informed them of his intention to transfer. She said, "He intends to transfer to a school closer and we wish him all the best."

Athletics would not discuss Josh's lack of play time this season.

I'm certainly sorry to see Josh go; for someone who got such good reviews from Rivals as a recruit I wish we could have seen him in game at least once.

I'll keep my ears open for further details on the school he will be transferring to, how, if at all, AU will recruit to replace Josh, and the reasons that Jeff Jones had, if any, for not playing him.

Pro deo et patria and GO EAGLES!

  1. I'm sorry, but who is supervising Jeff Jones?

This is a disaster just like the entire season so far, and there needs to be greater oversight of our coaching operations.

  2. JJ's demeanor has certainly been different on the sidelines during this past homestand. He's been content to stay in his chair for the most part, which is something we haven't seen much, if any, of in the past two seasons. His disgust/frustration are pretty apparent. I don't know, I don't see practices I guess, but practices and games are completely different entities too. I think most players would agree. Snodgrass leaving is a shame; we don't know yet if it's a disaster because we never even got to see him play. If he goes wherever he's going and winds up a decent player, expect some backlash from this blog.

  3. Just to clarify some of the earlier posts, Snodgrass is basically precluded from transferring to Colgate or any other Patriot League school by the P.L. bylaws. Not sure why there was speculation on this possibility.

  4. Steve, can you elaborate?

  5. Steve, that speculation is on me. That's an aspect of the PL by-laws I didn't know about. Mea culpa for my ignorance about it, but thank you so much for letting us know about it!

  6. Regarding the transfer. He could go wherever. PL rules does say the following:

    B. Basketball
In the sport of basketball, a student-athlete who transfers from one Patriot League institution to another must sit out two seasons before being eligible to play. However, if the student-athlete receives an NCAA waiver of the one-year residency requirement, the League basketball transfer rule will be waived. [June 1999]
