I would highly refrain from doing your stupid pun jokes for teams nicknames when we play service academies.
1.) Just a general statement for when you do these team nickname puns: They're awful. I mean, you are incredibly unfunny at making these puns. Not trying to sound like an A-hole, but are very hit or miss with your humor. Mostly miss. If you want to read a blog that has great humor and is also informative, read 11warriors.com... it's the main blog I read for Ohio State sports. You do provide good coverage of AU Men's Basketball, so that's where I'll give you props.
2.) If you are going to make these puns, I find it pretty classless when we play teams like Navy when you refer to them as the Navy "Middle of the Pack" Shipmen or whatever. I know it seems harmless, but still, these are the men who will be serving our country. Just call them the Navy Midshipmen. Same goes for Army.
To anonymous, I'm terribly sorry you had a bad day yesterday and decided to lash out at a college basketball fan blog.
I think we're well aware that our puns are inane and ridiculous. They're supposed to add a little levity to things. Ditto with my mostly miss humor. Some people are about it, some people aren't. It is what it is. Since we're not getting paid to run this blog and cover AU basketball, which we do in the limited free time we have, you'll forgive me if I don't feel a strong compulsion to force myself to write in a style that is unenjoyable for me.
I understand what you're saying about the service academies, and I respectfully disagree. The Navy Midshipmen men's basketball team has been middling (more puns!), at best, this season. They have not played basketball well, and their record (10-19) reflects that. They are in the middle of the pack in the Patriot League (6th place, actually, so below the middle). None of these facts is disputable about the Navy basketball team.
Have we poked fun at the team? Yep. Does it mean we don't deeply respect the commitment and sacrifice these guys make for our country off the court? Absolutely not. When these guys are on the court, they're college athletes. I have tremendous respect for them off-the-court. Leading up, and during, a game? They're just an opponent I want to see us hang 100 on. I think it's a little odd to think that you think these guys need to be treated with kid gloves by a college basketball blog and that they can't take a few jibes related to their on-court performance. These are some of the elite (or soon-to-be elite) of our nation's military, I don't think their feelings are going to be hurt about some corny puns.
Appreciate the feedback, I just disagree with where you're coming from. I hope you'll stick with us, puns and all. Thanks for reading. Go Eagles.
Nice win to celebrate senior night. Also on a high note;one of our two recruits for this fall, John Schoof was in the house last night with his father.John just finished a fine year across the river at W.T. Woodson. Those who had a chance to see him play saw a hardworking and skilled 6'5 guard/wing who should certainly make a positive impact on the program.2010-2011-1st Team All-District(17pts./gm-80% ft.) Last summer he started on Team Takeover, one of the top AAU teams in the country. On a down note; that was a pathetic student turnout last night. Two hours away from the books or whatever on senior night to see your team notch 20 wins seems little to ask.The Blue Crew bears significant responsibility as a leader for student support.Though much improved over recent years the student body still doesn't quite get it. Off your duffs for the play-off game Wednesday!

I disagree with the previous poster. I like the tone and cleverness. Different strokes, I guess. Anyone seriously offended is taking this and themselves trés seriously.
